In 1912, George Bloxham made a decision to establish "an organization which he could mould to his own ideas and control along the lines on which he thought a modern printery should be run. He had had enough of working in old-established firms".
So with plenty of enthusiasm, dedication and sheer determination, Bloxham approached two other individuals, Horace Chambers and George Limbrick to join him in commencing their new operations. They began from rented premises in Wentworth Place, Sydney. Their success was swift under the stewardship of Bloxham who was not prepared to compromise on quality or service.
The company survived the two World Wars and the Great Depression in between. During the period of the second World War, the company produced the majority of the print required for the Commonwealth Bank and Rural Bank. As a result, the staff at Bloxham & Chambers Printers were exempted from call-up on the basis that they were providing essential services. *
Over the years, Bloxham & Chambers Printers have won many prestigious contracts for the production of printed material, items of note being:
- The Bicentennial Booklet - 1988
- Booklets showcasing the Sydney Olympics for SOCOG - 2000
- History of Federation Booklet - 2001
Today the company sits proudly amongst the Bright Print Group of Companies and is located at 8 - 10 Frank Street, Wetherill Park in Sydney's Southwest.
